Vaddukoddai Resolution

The Vaddukoddai resolution is a resolution that was adopted at the first National Congress of the Tamil United Liberation Front in Pannakam ( electoral district Vaddukoddai ) on 14 May 1976. The Bureau of this policy led Congress SJV Chelvanayakam. It plays a central role in the conflict between the Tamils and Sinhalese in Sri Lanka and is considered the beginning of the movement for self-determination of the Tamils since independence from the British Kingdom.

Even 28 years after independence from the former Ceylon, the leading Tamil politicians agreed on this resolution, which contained the following statement:

" This convention specifies that the restoration of the free, sovereign, secular, socialist state of Tamil Eelam based on the right to self determination, which is every nation self has become inevitable to secure the existence of a Tamil state in this country. "
