Vädersolstavlan

Vädersolstavlan ( Swedish for the Sundog Painting ) is the oldest known depiction of Stockholm. Its origin goes back to an order from the Swedish reformer Olaus Petri. The original from 1535 is not obtained, but there is a well-preserved copy of Jacob Heinrich Elbfas from the 1630s, which is exhibited in St. Nicholas Church to Stockholm.

The picture shows a reasonably realistic representation of sundogs and other halo phenomena that have been observed on April 20, 1535 via Stockholm.
