Vadim Zagladin

Vadim Valentinovich Sagladin (Russian Вадим Валентинович Загладин; born June 23, 1927 in Moscow, † November 17, 2006 ) was a Soviet political scientist and personal adviser to Mikhail Gorbachev.

Sagladin completed studies at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations with a diploma, at this university he taught from 1949 until 1956. He was 1964-1988 First Deputy Head of the International Department of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CPSU Central Committee Secretaries were Boris Nikolayevich Ponomarev his time and Anatoly Fyodorovich Dobrynin. For Brezhnev, he wrote several speeches. In 1990 he became a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU. From 1988 to 1991 he was Head of the International Department of Mikhail Gorbachev 's closest adviser. He is regarded as the true architect of glasnost, perestroika and foreign policy of the Soviet Union. After 1991 he worked until his death as a consultant for the Gorbachev Foundation.

2004 Planetary Consciousness Prize he was awarded. He has published several books on international relations. Sagladin was vice-president of the Association for Euro - Atlantic Cooperation ( aeac ), which campaigns for better relations between Russia and NATO.
