Vagnhärad

Vagnhärad is a small Swedish town ( Tätort ) in the municipality Trosa, between Gnesta, Södertälje and Trosa. The town has a railway station and a post office.

Vagnhärad was first mentioned in 1350 as Wanghæradh. In 1997, there was a large landslide in several houses slid into the Trosaån.

The city was also the model for the location of Hedeby in Sven Delblancs novels Åminne (1970), Stenfågel (1973 ), Vinteride (1974 ) och Stadsporten (1976 ), which was filmed in 1978-1982 as successful in Sweden 18- part television series Hedebyborna. The series was filmed in and around Vagnhärad.
