Trosa Municipality

Trosa is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Södermanland County and the historic province of Södermanland. The main town of the municipality is Trosa.

Geography

The river flows through the town and Trosaån opens in Trosa in the Baltic Sea.

History

In the town there are many historical evidences, mostly in the form of runes. Have also become known is a gold treasure from the time of the migration, about 400 to 550 AD It was excavated in 1774 by the Tuna and weighed 12 kg. Today, the treasure can be seen at the Historical Museum in Stockholm.

The community Trosa was separated from the municipality of Nyköping on 1 January 1992.

Curiosities

The nickname, but also the official motto of the church is Världens changes ( end of the world ). However, its origin is not clear.
