Val Semeiks

Valdis " Val " Semeiks ( born February 5, 1955) is an American comic book artist.

Life and work

Semeiks, who was born as the son of Latvian immigrants in the United States began after high school graduation in chemistry and mathematics to work for an advertising agency. Semeiks began in 1986 to work as a professional comic book artist when he was commissioned by Marvel Publishing, drawings for series King Kull, which appeared as a backup series in the fantasy comic book series The Savage Sword of Conan contribute. His work on Kingbull proved to be so popular that Semeiks was eventually promoted to the signatories of the actual Conan stories, the main stories of the Conan series. Since then Semeiks has worked mainly as a penciler for the major U.S. comic book publisher DC Comics. For DC drew Semeiks in the 1990s, the satirical comic book series Lobo, which is about an over all dimensions brutal alien bounty hunter, and the series The Demon, which is about the adventures of the magician Jason Blood, who named because of a sinister curse of an evil demon Etrigan is bound. In both cases, the British author Alan Grant - who wrote the stories to be drawn from Semeiks - Semeiks artistic partner.

After a temporary move to Marvel Comics, where he worked on the series X -Men and Wolverine, Semeiks returned to DC where he was entrusted with signs contracts for the JLA series and Legends of the Dark Knight.

In addition Semeiks for the U.S. MAD Magazine and has worked as an illustrator for the series Big Book of Paradox Press and several novels for the Icewind Dale trilogy of the author RA Salvatore.
