Valenki
Walenki (Russian валенки, about German felt boots ) are traditional Russian winter boots made of felt.
The name Walenki literally means " made by felting ". They consist entirely of felt and are therefore not waterproof, they do not have sole or profile. Therefore, they are often worn with galoshes.
Due to their excellent thermal insulation Walenki are among the few boots that are suitable for temperatures below -30 degrees Celsius.
In the Russian city of Myshkin a Walenki boots Museum exists. The Walenki Museum in Moscow is located in the pereulok Kozhevnitshevski.
