Valeri Shmarov (footballer)

Valeri Valentinovich Schmarow (Russian Валерий Валентинович Шмаров; born February 23, 1965 in Voronezh ) is a retired Russian football player and current coach.

Career

Schmarow celebrated his greatest successes with Spartak Moscow. 1987 and 1989 he became Soviet champion in 1990, he secured the title of the scorer.

In 1991, Schmarow in the Bundesliga Karlsruher SC. He drew attention to himself when he penetrated with the club to the semi-finals of the competition in the European Cup 1993/94 season. In addition to victories against PSV Eindhoven, Bordeaux and Boavista Porto it was especially the 7-0 success in the second round second leg against FC Valencia, who caused a sensation. In this role, became known as the Miracle on the wildlife park in the story, Schmarow scored a goal and gave two assists.

In 1996 he returned to Spartak Moscow back to Russia and won the Russian championship. In 2002, he finished his career.
