Valeria Bufanu

Valeria Bufanu (married Ştefănescu; born October 7, 1946 in Bacău ) is a former Romanian athlete who took up especially in a hurdler and long jump.

Bufanu won the gold medal in the 100 - meter race and the gold medal in the 100 - meter hurdles from 1967 to 1971 in unbroken succession to the Romanian championships in 1970 and 1971. In the 400 - meter hurdles in 1969 she won the gold medal. Also in 1970, she won the gold medal in the pentathlon.

At the Olympic Games in 1968, she reached the semi-finals on 80 m hurdles. In Munich in 1972, this discipline was replaced by the 100 - meter hurdles, in which she won (both DDR) the silver medal behind Annelie Ehrhardt and before Karin Balzer. In the long jump she left without a valid attempt. At the Olympic Games, in 1976 was over 100 m hurdles seventh.

National champion, she was in 1970 and 1971 in the 100 -meter run, from 1967 to 1971 and 1976 on 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles in 1969 and 1970 in the pentathlon.
