Valery Babanov

Valery Pavlovich Babanow ( Valery Babanov also; Russian Валерий Павлович Бабанов; born November 10, 1964 in Omsk ) is a Russian climber who is best known for the climbing of peaks above 7000m - border as well as by its climbing with particularly high levels of difficulty.

Life

With the climbing began in 1980. Among his successes also include several first ascents and speed records. He is married and lives in Chamonix- Mont- Blanc. He was, among others, twice awarded the Piolet d'Or, most recently together with his compatriot Yuri Koschelenko for the ascent of Nuptse Shar I.
