Mont Vélan, left the Valsoreygletscher, right of Tseudetgletscher

The Valsoreygletscher (French Glacier de Valsorey ) is a valley glacier in the south-western Pennine Alps in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It is about 3.4 km long with an average width of 300 meters and covers an area of about 2.3 square kilometers.

The origins of the Valsoreygletscher fissured hanging on the summit of Mont Vélan in the southwest of the Grand Combin massif at about 3,700 m. The glacier flows into a bow first to the northeast, then north and later northwest. In the east it is flanked by a ridge with numerous crags ( up to 3,400 m), this is the boundary between Italy and Switzerland; the western boundary is formed by the Mont de la Gouille ( 3,212 m). The glacier is currently at about 2,400 m altitude. Here arises the stream Valsorey, which opens into the Dranse d' Entremont.

In his High Stadium during the Little Ice Age, the Valsoreygletscher lasted more than 1 km further down the valley, where he. Further by a glacier on the northern slope of Mont Vélan, the Tseudetgletscher (French Glacier de Tseudet, 2,3 km long) still received Eisnachschub
