Valve

A fitting (Latin armare " equip " ) in pipes called a component especially for shutting off or rules of material flows.

Depending on the design closes a closure member which is connected to the valve pipe. When the faucet is the valve plate. When the shut-off valve, this is a rotatable flap, the gate valve, a movable disc and the cock a rotatable cylinder or cone or a sphere, all of which are provided with a bore.

At the stop valves and control valves include:

  • Butterfly Valve
  • Gate Valve
  • Pressure reducer
  • Ventilator
  • KFR valve
  • Traps
  • Ball valve, stop valve
  • A mixing valve
  • Non-return valve
  • Check valve, ball valve
  • Backflow preventer
  • Safety valve
  • Balancing valve
  • Valve, gate valve, faucet, Isolating valve
  • Leading water faucet at the Fire Department
  • Hydrant
  • Pinch

In a broader sense other installations in pipes are also called faucet:

  • Filter, screen
  • Compensator
  • Orifice
  • Sight glass
  • Guillotine

For installing fittings in pipe lines, various connectivity options, such as flanges and fittings, are available.

Areas of application

Each fitting has its field of application in accordance with the conditions prevailing in the pipeline pressure and temperature, the size of the piping, the requirements of the tightness of the valve, the throttle and the direction of fluid flow as well as the medium itself in building gas pipelines are specially sealed, the gas pressure custom fittings, so-called gas taps installed; in water lines corresponding stop valves or throttle valves, which are colloquially called " taps ".

Safety fittings

So-called safety valves are used to limit the pressure in the pressure-loaded systems such as boilers or reactors.

Drives

Valves can be manually by hand, as in the household tap, or motorized, for example by geared motor, pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders are actuated. For check valves, the fluid flow in the pipe causes an independent closing of the valve.
