Vancouver International Film Festival

The Vancouver International Film Festival ( VIFF ) is a two-week film festival, the end of September / beginning of October, takes place every year in the Canadian city of Vancouver. It was first held in 1982 and is organized by the non-profit Greater Vancouver International Film Festival Society. Since 2005, the films will be shown in a purpose-built building, the Vancouver International Film Centre.

At the Festival both Canadian and foreign films. The VIFF considered a springboard for young Asian filmmakers, as it shows outside of Asia most Asian films. In 2006, attended by over 300 films from 50 countries participated in the competition, nearly a quarter of them were documentaries. The number of audience of around 150,000.

Among the most acclaimed films include Live and Become, The Corporation, Bowling for Columbine and The Lives of Others.
