Varginha is a city in the southwest of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, with about 123,000 inhabitants and an area of nearly 400 km ².

Varginha is known as one of the main centers for coffee production of excellent quality ( gourmet coffee ), and Brazilian center for global coffee exports. Exports are also raw materials from the mines in southern Brazil, as well grain.

The city has a strategic location on the shores of Lake Furnas, while it is equidistant from the three main cities of Brazil, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. The Veja magazine designated in 2011 as a medium-sized city Varginha Brazil with the highest quality of life and the most favorable investment climate.

Special Events

On January 20, 1996, there were in Varginha an alleged UFO incident, which still creates controversy in relevant discussion forums. As a reminder of the new water tower was built in the shape of a flying saucer and was named Nave Espacial de Varginha.
