Vasco da Gama (crater)

93.52

Vasco da Gama is an impact crater on the westernmost edge of the lunar front side, therefore, if at all, only highly distorted from Earth visible. The crater is located northeast of drilling and south of Dalton. He is very badly eroded. The interior is criss-crossed by fractures and has a concentric ring structure with central mountain on.

The bottom of the side crater Vasco da Gama R is crossed by the moon groove system of Rimae Vasco da Gama.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama.
