Vasile Blaga

Vasile Blaga ( born July 26, 1956 in Petrileni, Bihor County ) is a Romanian politician, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (Romanian Partidul Democrat Liberal PDL), 2004-2007 Administration and Home Affairs in the Government Tăriceanu, from 2008 to 2009 Minister for Regional Development in the Cabinet Boc I, 2009-2010 Minister of the Interior in the cabinet Boc II, 2011-2012 President of the Romanian Senate.

Professional career

Vasile Blaga studied from 1976 to 1981 Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Timişoara Traian Vuia in. From 1981 to 1990 he worked for the engineering company Hiperion in Ştei, first as an engineer, then as a department manager and most recently as Commercial Director.

After he then graduated from 1994 to 1995 several courses in customs at the Academy in Vienna and in Weiden in der Oberpfalz, he was appointed Director General of the Regional Customs Directorate Oradea.

Political career

From 1990, the political activity Blagas began as a deputy of the newly formed National Salvation Front (Romanian Frontul Salvării national, FSN) of Bihor County. In the same year he was appointed Chairman of the Council of the National Salvation Front (Romanian Consiliul Frontului Salvării national, CFSN ) elected to Ştei and Deputy Chairman of the Council of the National Salvation Front in Bihor county, one year later as Chairman of the Front of National rescue Bihor.

As a founding member of the Democratic Party (Romanian Partidul Democrat, PD ) was Blaga 1991-1997 chairman of the county organization Bihor and 1997-2001 Secretary General of the PD Bihor. In 2001 he was elected chairman of the PD Bucharest. After the parliamentary elections of November 2004, when Blaga campaign manager Băsescu was, he was advisor to the newly elected President in matters of defense and state security and chief of the Department of National Security and Presidential Administration.

In December 2007, the Democratic Party merged (PD ) with the Liberal Democratic Party (Romanian Liberal Democrat Partidul PLD) under Theodor Stolojan the Liberal Democratic Party (Romanian Partidul Democrat Liberal, PD -L). After the defeat of the Democratic- Liberal Party ( PD -L) in the nationwide local elections in June 2012, whose leadership resigned closed. Two weeks later chose the PD -L at the party congress in Bucharest Vasile Blaga as the new Chairman.

During the political crisis in Romania in 2012, the government coalition sat on 3 June 2012 from the presidents of both chambers of parliament. Senate President Vasile Blaga called for his removal as illegal and called it a " coup " of the alliance of Prime Minister Victor Ponta. The Senate then elected the Chairman of the Liberal Party (PNL ) Crin Antonescu, the new president of the chamber.
