Vasily Dzhugashvili

Vasily Iosifovich Stalin (Russian Василий Иосифович Сталин; born March 24, 1921 in Moscow, † March 19, 1962 in Kazan ) was a Soviet general and son of Joseph Stalin.

Vasily Stalin was the son of Joseph Stalin and his second wife Nadezhda Alliluyeva. During World War II he was a captain in the 23rd Fighter Group in Moscow career and became a successful pilot. Except for a mention of the award of the Rotbannerordens he was - like all children of Stalin - hardly mentioned in public. 1945-1947 Vasily was stationed in Falkirk in Berlin as commander of a Soviet air division. In 1948 he was promoted lieutenant-general in the Moscow Military District commander of the local air forces and led since then the air parades on national holidays.

Vasily Stalin was said by his sister Svetlana an extravagant lifestyle, poor handling and alcoholism. In addition, he had been haughty and intemperate, has only been held by his father in his position. In April 1951 he was elected to the Moscow Committee of the CPSU.

On 1 May 1952 he was, even though it was forbidden, a squadron fly over Red Square and was personally deposed by Stalin as commander and sent to a General Staff Academy, which he never visited.

In his shock at the death of his father in the following year Vasily believed that Stalin was assassinated. He lost his position in the Air Force, was arrested on April 28 in 1953 and sentenced to eight years imprisonment, was sitting in the follow- up to 1960 in a prison camp Vladimirovka in Vladimir, and several times in sanitariums or asylums. Upon his return to Moscow he should be noticed again by debauchery and alcoholism, then a cure in the Caucasus have tried and eventually be moved to Kazan, where he died on 19 March 1962.

Vasily Stalin was married four times. His first wife from 1940 to 1944 was Galina Burdonskaja ( 1921-1990 ), with a son ( Alexander Burdonski, * 1941, theater director, People's Artist of Russia in 1996 ) and a daughter Nadezhda ( 1943-1999 ) had. From 1946 to 1949 he was married to Ekaterina Timoshenko ( 1923-1988 ), daughter of Marshal Semyon Timoshenko. From this marriage a son Vasily (1949-1972) and a daughter Svetlana (1952-1989) emerged. Vasily Stalin's third wife was a swimmer, 1949-1953 Kapitolina Vasilyeva (1918 or 1923-2009 ), from which emerged no common children. But he adopted the daughter Lina (* 1942) from the first marriage of Kapitolina Vasilyeva. Shortly before his death married Vasily Stalin in 1962 Marija Nusberg ( Schewargina, 1930-2002 ).
