Vecumnieki

Vecumnieki is a town in Latvia, it is located about 45 km south of Riga.

History

Here was the cancer pitcher. After 1904, the station Neugut at the track Jelgava - was established Kreutzburg, resulted in a settlement. Until 1940 the town was called Vecmuiza. In 1951 the territory of the local collective farm Sarkana zvaigzne ( Red Star ) was incorporated. 1954 two more places.

Vecumnieku novads

Since the dissolution of the counties in 2009 Vecumnieki forms with five surrounding municipalities in administrative matters. Here live 9708 inhabitants (as of 1 July 2010).
