The Vehmsmoor is a nature reserve with the license plate number NSG LÜ 182 in the town of Walsrode ( District of Heidekreis, Lower Saxony ).

Description

The 255 hectares Vehmsmoor lies between the Walsrode districts Fulde and Vethem three kilometers west of the center of Walsrode and two miles south of the Highway 27

The Jordan river, a tributary of the River Böhme, drains the Vehmsmoor.

In the high- moor peat was stung for centuries. Today it is passed with birch pine swamp forest. It is still a highly typical wetland vegetation exists, consisting of cotton grass, cranberry, heather heath, sundews and the Torfstichen peat moss. Moor grass dominated area. In Moor broods again the crane.

History

With Order of 25 May 1990, Vehmsmoor was declared a nature reserve. Jurisdiction of the District of Heidekreis as the lower nature conservation authority.
