Velázquez is a small town in Uruguay.

Geography

It is located on the territory of the Department of Rocha south of the reservoir Embalse de la India Muerta. In the south of the town, the Sierra de la India Muerta extends, while the east Cuchilla de Spalato is located. In the West, the local area of ​​Velázquez is initially limited by the running there Bach Diamante and from its confluence with the Arroyo Sarandi de la Paloma by the latter. East of the village flows within a few kilometers of the Arroyo de las Espinas, which forms north of the village together with the Arroyo Sarandi de la Paloma Arroyo de la India Muerta.

History

On October 28, 1919 Velázquez was initially classified by Act No. 7019 in the " Pueblo " category before the classification was made on 1 July 1953 as "Villa " in the context of the legal regulation No. 11965.
