Velký Luh

Velky Luh ( German Großloh ) is a municipality with 137 inhabitants in the north- west of the Czech Republic. The place is in Okres Cheb nine kilometers north-east of Franzensbad on the southern slopes of the Ore Mountains.

History

The place Großloh was founded in 1726. The school was in Klinghart. Großloh was from the mid-19th century the judicial district of Wildenstein or district Eger. 1900 was built the local railway Tirschnitz - Wildenstein - Schönenbach; Großloh received a railway station. Between Großloh and snails was since 1895 the Jewish cemetery of the city Fleißen on which Jews are buried from Großloh. The cemetery was eliminated in the 1950s in the wake of large-scale agricultural area economy. From 1938 to 1945, the town belonged to the German Empire ( Reich District of Sudetenland ). Since 1961 the town Velky Luh is maintained by the parish in Křižovatka. Far from the village there are several Kaolingruben with deep blue water that are used for bathing.
