Venisey

Venisey is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Venisey situated at an altitude of 229 m above sea level, 7 km east of Jussey and about 27 km northwest of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northern part of the department, in a hollow of the Ruisseau de la Sacquelle (also Ruisseau de la Tuileries ), east of the Saônetals.

The area of ​​6.80 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of the east of the upper Saônetals. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Venisey, which is drained by the Ruisseau de la Sacquelle south to the Saône. The Alluvialniederung has a diameter of about 1.5 kilometers and is on average 225 m. In Venisey flows from the east of the Ruisseau de Frémoncourt in the Ruisseau de la Sacquelle. Agricultural land use predominates here, larger forest areas, there are only along the town limits.

The trough of Venisey is flanked by a plateau, which reaches a height of 260 m. To the east is the height of La Vignotte (281 m ) in the north- east, the municipality area extends into the forests on the southern slopes of Mont aux Pies. With 312 m find the highest mountains of Venisey is achieved. In geological- tectonic terms, the terrain consists of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited on the merits during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ).

Neighboring communities of Venisey are Magny -lès- Jussey and Saponcourt in the north, Contréglise in the east, and Buffignécourt Montureux -lès- Baulay in the south and Tartécourt in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Venisey belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government shared the monasteries Cherlieu and Faverney. The monastery Cherlieu had here the grange Frémoncourt. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Venisey is a member of the comprehensive 13 villages municipal association Communauté de communes Agir Ensemble.

Attractions

The village church of Venisey shows a choir in the flamboyant Gothic style (16th century), while the nave and the tower were rebuilt in the 18th century. It houses two gilded statues (18th century) and several grave slabs. In the old town a few houses from the 18th century are preserved, showing the traditional style of the Haute -Saône. Additional points of interest include four wells. The roof of a Lavoirs is covered by the bricks of the former church. At the homestead Frémoncourt is a dovecote dating from the 17th century.

Population

With 153 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Venisey one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 294 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded in recent years.

Economy and infrastructure

Venisey was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture ( farming, viticulture and animal husbandry ) embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Cendrecourt after Contréglise. Further road links exist with Tartécourt, Buffignécourt and Montureux -lès- Baulay.
