Vera Timanova

Vera Viktorovna Timanowa (Russian Вера Викторовна Тиманова, in Germany also known as Vera Timanoff; * 6 Februarjul / February 18 1855greg in Ufa, .. † February 22, 1942 in Leningrad) was a Russian pianist.

Life

Timanowa received her first musical training in Ufa in L. Nowitzky, she appeared as early as the age of nine as a pianist publicly. She studied with Anton Rubinstein and then at Carl Tausig in Berlin and was a pupil of Franz Liszt in Weimar. Her debut in London, she gave in 1880 at the concerts in Covent Garden, after which there followed a further six concerts. On 1 July 1907, she played for the Freiburg-based company M. Welte & Sons, maker of the Welte-Mignon reproducing piano, fourteen pieces on a piano rolls. After a career in Western Europe in 1907, she returned back to Russia. Her last public appearance as a 82 -year-old was 1937. Wera Timanowa starved during the siege of Leningrad.
