Structure

The Association League Saxony -Anhalt is the highest division of the Football Association in Saxony -Anhalt, while the 6th Division in the Football League system in Germany. Prehistory

Already from 1948 to 1952 there was a football league in the state of Saxony- Anhalt. After the end of the Second World War, the former sports system had collapsed, a narrowly defined regional football game operation developed in the Soviet occupation zone in 1946. 1948/49, was the state of Saxony- Anhalt class along with the other leagues in the Eastern countries, the highest league in the Soviet occupation zone. In the 1949/50 season it was 1950/51 third division under the new DS- Oberliga second-rate and after the introduction of the DDR -Liga.

With the abolition of the East German Länder and the introduction of the GDR districts and the state leagues were set at their place, District 15 leagues ( in Saxony-Anhalt, the district league hall and the District League Magdeburg ).

In the 1990/91 season the consequent foundation of the country was due to the political changes in the GDR and reintroduced a national league in Saxony- Anhalt. Formed you in the last GDR season, the third- highest division. In the following season took all the teams in the former GDR, now organized in NOFV, the schedule of the DFB part. It was the first season since the end of World War 2, in the back a total German champion was determined and all German clubs played again within a league system for points. The division of Saxony-Anhalt was formed until the end of season 1993/ 94, the fourth-highest division. The reintroduction of the regional leagues at the start of the next season in turn meant a devaluation of the league.
