Veresegyház

Veresegyház [ vɛrɛʃɛcha ː z] is a town of about 16,000 inhabitants in the Hungarian Pest county. It is located 30 km northeast of Budapest and 10 km north of the former royal residence in Gödöllő.

History

Several findings seem to confirm the continuous occupation of the site already in prehistoric times. A church should already have been built at the time of Árpád. The name - for example " Rotkirche " - is attributed to the Mongols in 1241. According to legend, the blood of those killed in the church dwellers stained the walls red.

Since 1375, the place is also mentioned in documents. The Church of that time was later replaced by the late Baroque church still standing there. Throughout history Veresegyház has been destroyed several times, but was always again an important reference point in the area, particularly through the markets.

Since around the turn of the century from the 19th to the 20th century Veresegyház considered as excursion and resort. From 1929, the place was advertised as such in Budapest. As a rural large village got Veresegyház 1999, the city rights after the relevant infrastructure requirements have been met. It is regarded as ambitious place, as many very wealthy citizens of Budapest have moved to the newly built suburban developments ( residential areas ).

Economy

The focus of economic activity is in services ( Various shopping ), supplemented by relatively important industrial areas (eg Mey ) and employment opportunity in the neighboring city. New efforts are tourism, the largely untapped lakes landscape ( small beach and fishing opportunities ) should be used. In addition to the thermal bath, the water is compared with that of the Szechenyi bath in Budapest, to be modernized. The transport links to the capital Budapest are good, hourly trains to Budapest Western Railway Station ( Nyugati palyaudvar ).
