Verizon Wireless ( VZW ) is the largest U.S. mobile operator with 91.2 million customers. Verizon Wireless was founded as a joint venture of U.S. telecommunications company Verizon and the global mobile market leader Vodafone. Vodafone currently holds about 45 percent of the shares, Verizon the other end of 55th August 2013 gave Verizon the complete takeover of Verizon Wireless for $ 130 billion dollars known. On September 2, 2013 Vodafone confirmed the transaction to be completed in the first quarter of 2014.

The network technology used by Verizon Wireless, among others CDMA2000, a standard which is based on Code Division Multiple Access.
