Verkiai

Verkiai (Polish Werki ) is a district of Lithuania's capital, Vilnius, on the right bank of the Neris River, to the north from the city center. There are Verkiai Regional Park, Grange Verkiai, architectural ensemble ( reserve Verkiai ), Catholic Holy Trinity Church Vilnius.

History

1387 Wolostyn Verkiai was assigned to the Diocese of Vilnius at the decision by Jogaila. By 1904 he was a village and then got city rights. There was a paper mill. 1969 was affiliated to Vilnius.
