Charts and reception

Unlike Garbages debut album, Version 2.0 was able to position overall better in Germany. In Germany, the album peaked at # 4 and stayed 25 weeks in the charts. Were able to place the first time, garbage in Austria in 4th place and in Switzerland at number 17

In Allmusic Stephen Thomas Erlewine of the album was rated 3 out of 5 stars. Version 2.0 is neither a perfect nor a complete overhaul special development. All that garbage with their debut album earned success is also to be found on this album: Shirley Manson's seductive intensity, a strong sensibility for pop music and a production between alternative rock and techno. The album lacks the directness of its predecessor. Although the songs were a total of audible, but the type of production make sure that the songs sounded the same.

Uwe Schütte by Spiegel Online labeled version 2.0 as "a little more uniform and more compact than its predecessor. " Particular emphasis is slower songs like Medication and The Trick is To Keep Breathing, which he sees as the high point of the album.
