Vetrino–Isaccea–Yuzhnoukrainsk powerline

The high-voltage line Wetrino - Isaccea - Juschnoukrajinsk was one of the few 750 kV lines in the present territory of the EU. It is in 2010 only between Wetrino - Isaccea with 400 kV in operation, the section in the Ukraine after Juschnoukrajinsk is dismantled. The in operation section is operated with three-phase alternating current.

History

The construction of the 750 kV line from the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine Juschnoukrajinsk on Romania to Bulgaria was decided in Moscow in 1982. In 1986, the first part of commissioning and 1988 the complete setup.

Course

The line starts at the substation Wetrino in Bulgarians and runs in a northerly direction. In Dobrogea it crosses the state border of Romania and Bulgaria and ends at the substation Isaccea, which is close to the border with Ukraine. In the second substation Isaccea now dismantled line section begins. He crossed after a few masts of the Danube, which forms the border between Ukraine and Romania, 118 meters high on Delta masts in a 938 -meter span. Then the line runs in a northerly direction and cross the border with Moldova twelve times and although they ran right past the substation of Vulcanesti, there was no connection to the Moldovan electricity grid.

Description

The masts of the line are designed to accommodate a circuit in a plane. As conductors act four bundles. Almost all suspension towers are portal masts. These two types are used, namely detached portal masts and rope tensed portal masts. In the former, the intermediate insulator V-shaped. As a guy masts Masttripel be used. This is in tension towers without strong change of direction, a fourth mast for fixing the current loop necessary. For Verdrillmaste five masts are needed.

Current status

The section between Wetrino Isaccea and operated since the synchronization of the Romanian power system with the Western European power grid at 400 kV. The section between Isaccea and Juschnoukrajinsk since the synchronization disabled. Today, from this line section only a short distance from the substation Isaccea up immediately behind the Danube crossing and a short piece in the area of nuclear power plant Juschnoukrajinsk available. In the southern Ukraine and Moldova are still numerous masts without conductors, with the number of missing masts in a northerly direction tends to increase strongly. It is no longer possible to determine on satellite images the entire course of the line today.
