Magnot is a municipality in the district Conthey in the French speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the Magnot Alps southern slope on the northern side of the Rohnetals. The Rhone forms the southern boundary of the municipality, to the west the boundary is formed by the Lizerne, along the gorge, the municipality's area like a finger extending far to the north. The community is characterized by the vineyards on the sunny side of the Rhone valley. The municipality comprises the villages of Magnot and Magnot. Neighboring communities of Magnot are in northern and eastern Conthey, in the south west Nendazund in Ardon.

Policy

The local executive is called the " Conseil Municipal " and the local parliament, " Conseil général ".

On October 14, following politicians were elected to the executive of Magnot: André Fontannaz (CVP ), Stéphane Germanier (CVP ), Véronique Papilloud - Sauthier (CVP ), Michel Huser (FDP ) and Oliver Cottagnoud (AL).

Since June 2005 Magnot is twinned with Beaumont- lès- Valence France ( Drôme ).
