Vetulicolia

  • Didazoonidae
  • Vetulicolidae

Vetulicolia denotes a extinct animal strain, which was created in 2001 by Shu et al; he has several Cambrian fossil forms. The taxonomic assignment of Vetulicolia is the present state of science (2008) controversial. D. G. Shu et.al. have pointed out that it is in these animals to early new mouths ( deuterostomes ). My plan consists of two parts: a voluminous front with a large "mouth", both sides of which follows a series of five round to oval openings - maybe it These are gills or nearby the pharynx breathing holes - and a seven-segment existing rump. The section lying between the front and rear part is narrowed. According to Shu et al the root Vetulicolia includes the Didazoonidae family with the genera Didazoon and Xidazoon that Vetulicolidae family with the genera Pomatrum and Vetulicola and the genus Banffia. The authors also argue that the root of the Vetulicolia is closely related to the Yunnanozoa.

In his work from 2003 Shu argues that the Vetulicolia represent a side branch of the deuterostomes, who specialized early. This in turn gives rise to the conclusion that the splitting in Cephalochordata and Vertebrata possibly can be traced back to the common ancestor of Protostomia and the deuterostomes. Briggs et al 2005 described the type Skeemella clavula from the middle Cambrian of Utah; it shows a certain degree of affinity to the Vetulicolia, but also has the same features of the character Arthropoda and thus provides a mapping of the Vetulicolia Deuterostomia in question. For Dominguez and Jefferies turn the Vetulicolia are to be regarded as Urochordata basis of morphological studies, perhaps they are a core group of Larvacea. All possible kinship positions are in a work by Aldridge et al. extensively referenced, without a definitive assignment would have been possible
