Via di Ripetta

The Via di Ripetta is a street in the historic center of Rome, which starts from the Piazza del Popolo.

It was created in 1518 under the name Via leonina by Raphael and Antonio da Sangallo for Pope Leo X.. The road at the bank of the Tiber past the Mausoleum of Augustus and the built by Alessandro Specchi Ripetta port on the Tiber, from which it received its present name. Crossing the Tiber, one arrives to the Vatican.

The Via di Ripetta is part of the Tridente, the trident, which also includes the Via del Babuino and Via del Corso belong.
