The canton of Vianden is both geographically and by population smallest canton of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It lies in the north of the country, bordered to the north by the canton of Clervaux, on the east by the German state of Rhineland -Palatinate and the south and west by the canton Diekirch. Precursor of the canton was the county of Vianden.
