Vicaria

Vicaria is the 8th of the 30 districts ( Quarters ) of the southern Italian port city of Naples. It lies directly east of the Historic Centre (Centro Storico ) and belongs to the poorer socio-economically seen the center of Naples.

Geography and demography

Vicaria it borders on the neighboring districts of San Carlo all'Arena, Poggio Reale, Zona Industriale and San Lorenzo.

Vicaria is 0.72 square kilometers and in 2009 had 16,369 inhabitants.

Notable places and buildings

Vicaria is a relatively small area and almost completely covered with buildings. Also worth mentioning are the central square Piazza Nazionale and the stadium Stadio Militare dell'Arenaccia (or Velodromo Albricci, opened in 1923), has in which 1926 to 1930, Napoli played, but which belongs to the military today.
