Vicente Casanova y Marzol

Cardinal Vicente Casanova y Marzol ( born April 16, 1854 in Borja, Spain, † 23 October 1930 in Zaragoza ) was Archbishop of Granada.

Life

Vicente Casanova y Marzol received his philosophical and theological education in seminaries of Zaragoza and Madrid. He received in 1881 the sacrament of Holy Orders and acquired a year later at the University of Valencia authorization to teach in Catholic theology. Subsequently, he worked as a chaplain in Maluenda and Alfaro in the diocese of Tarazona, before he became a minister in Madrid.

1907 he was appointed by Pope Pius X. Bishop of Almería, in 1925 conferred on him by Pope Pius XI. the governance of the Archdiocese of Granada. In the same year he took him a cardinal priest with the titular church of Santi Vitale, Valeria, Gervasio e Protasio to the College of Cardinals.

Cardinal Vicente Casanova y Marzol died on 23 October 1930 in Zaragoza and was buried in the Metropolitan Basilica of Granada.
