Historical findings
At the beginning of the 1990s, also a Roman mosaic was discovered in Viichten next to the Roman wall paintings can be seen on the Homer surrounded by the nine Muses. The arrangement of the Muses is star-shaped and corresponds to the order that was established by Hesiod. Of particular interest is the presentation of Urania, which apparently has an early globe next to him.
The mosaic dating from the year 240 AD, with an area of 61.3 m² was probably made in Trier and served as a floor decoration in a Gallo-Roman estate; a copy of this mosaic is on display in Viichten. The original is in the Musée National d' Histoire et d'Art in Luxembourg. Other traces of the Roman settlement Vichtens exist in some Roman capitals, which were installed in the bell tower of the church.
