Víctor García de la Concha

Víctor García de la Concha ( born January 2, 1934 in Villaviciosa, Asturias ) is a Spanish philologist and 1998-2010 Head of the Real Academia Española.

De la Concha graduated as a philologist at the University of Oviedo and as a theologian at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He taught at the Universities of Valladolid, Murcia, Zaragoza and as a professor of Spanish literature at Salamanca.

He became a full member of the Real Academia Española, in 1992 on their secretary, director in 1998.

Garcia has received numerous honors and awards including the Premio Internacional Menéndez Pelayo and an honorary doctorate from the University of Tegucigalpa.
