Victor Mature

Victor Mature, actually Victor Joseph Maturi, ( born January 29, 1913 in Louisville, Kentucky; † August 4, 1999 in Rancho Santa Fe, California ) was an American actor.

Life

Victor Mature was discovered on stage at the Pasadena Playhouse. His first major role came in 1940 in the film Tumak, the lord of the jungle. After this film, he was taken from the 20th Century Fox contract. With the U.S. entry into the Second World War, he enlisted in the armed service. Therefore, it came in the years 1943 to 1945 to no film appearances.

In the 1950s he played in Western, Bible, historical and monumental films, such as in one of the first CinemaScope films, The Robe.
