Victor Pelevin

Viktor Pelevin Olegovich (Russian Виктор Олегович Пелевин, scientific transliteration Viktor Pelevin Olegovič; born November 22, 1962 in Moscow ) is a Russian writer. He currently lives in Moscow and is considered one of the most important and most widely read living narrator of Russia.

He describes in his novels and stories modern Russian current affairs from an unusual surrealist and mystical perspective. Lately Pelevin was also internationally known primarily for his novels Omon behind the moon (Russian Омон Ра ) and Generation P (Russian Generation П ).

After he graduated in electrical engineering, he soon turned to the literature on and joined the Moscow Institute of Literature. His first story was published in 1989, since 1990 he has worked as a freelance author. First, several of his stories were published in various magazines, now five novels and short stories have appeared about fifty. In 2001 he received the " Richard Schonfeld Award for literary satire " of the Hamburg Cultural Foundation.

Pelevin is regarded as reclusive, does not give interviews and holds no readings. With its fan base (he has the status of a cult author ) he communicates primarily via the Internet.
