Victor Pinchuk

Viktor Pinchuk Mychajlowytsch (Ukrainian Віктор Михайлович Пінчук; Russian Виктор Михайлович Пинчук; born December 14, 1960 in Kiev) is a Ukrainian businessman and patron, and is considered one of the richest men in the Ukraine.

Pinchuk graduated from the Institute in Dnepropetrovsk metallurgical engineering studies, which he finished in 1983. In 1990 he founded the Interpipe group, which mainly produces steel pipes and railroad tracks and it is now one of the largest industrial companies in Ukraine. In 2006, Pinchuk founded the company group Eastone Group, to the mainly companies in the metal processing but also Ukrainian television stations and publishing houses belong.

From 1998 to 2006 Pinchuk belonged to the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada. Since 2006, he has largely retired from politics. In addition to his activities as a businessman, he positioned himself by his foundation Pinchukfund as a philanthropist. The Foundation annually from between ten and 15 million dollars for social and cultural projects and worked together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Pinchuk is also the founder of the private University of Economics and Kyiv School of Economics. In 2004, Pinchuk the organization Yalta European Strategy (YES), the Yalta conference held once a year to attend the regular high level politicians.

In 2006 he opened the private museum in Kiev Pinchuk Art Centre, which is considered the most important museum of modern art in Ukraine. Director of the museum since 2008 Eckhard Schneider, the former director of the Kunsthaus Bregenz.

Pinchuk, who is of Jewish origin, produced in 2006, together with Steven Spielberg documentary Spell your name (Ukrainian Назви своє ім'я ) report in the Ukrainian Holocaust survivors and other witnesses about their experiences.

Pinchuk is married to his second wife Elena Frantschuk, the daughter of former President Leonid Kuchma. She is the founder of the Elena Frantschuk Foundation, the only funded with private funds anti-AIDS Foundation in Ukraine.
