Victor von Richter

Victor von Richter ( born April 15, 1841 in Dobele, Latvia, † October 8, 1891 in Breslau) was a German chemist.

He was the son of a preacher and studied at the University of Dorpat (Tartu ). After graduation (1863 ) he became assistant in Chemistry at the Technological Institute in St. Petersburg and earned his master's degree there in 1867. In 1872 he was chem at the University of St. Petersburg Dr.. doctorate. Then he became a professor for general and analytical chemistry at the Agronomic Institute in Pulawy ( Novo Alexandria ). In 1875 he completed his habilitation at the University of Breslau, four years later he became appointed associate professor of chemistry and director of the 1890 Agriculture and Technological Institute.

In the field of organic chemistry, v. Judge dealt with reactions of benzenoid (aromatic ) compounds. He discovered later named after him by Judge reaction and a heterocycle synthesis ( ' cinnoline ring circuit to by Judge ) ' .. He also emerged as a writer of textbooks.
