Life

He started early with sports and portrait caricatures and was a staff member at the Berlin 12 - clock sheet. His first cartoons in 1929 commented on the rise of the Nazi Party. As a Jew, he was banned from working. 1935 before he fled to England, he found about Hungary in Berlin with Kurt Wendler ( Nollendorfplatz 6) support and shelter.

In England he was called " Vicky " ( alongside David Low) one of the most popular and best cartoonists. In words and pictures he commented unerringly the day and world events. The political development and their own experience made ​​him mainly for opponents of the Nazi Party, but even communism was not spared. Its clients have included, inter alia, Evening Standard, Daily Mirror, the New Statesman and the News Chronicle.
