Vieussan

Vieussan ( Occitan: Viuça ) is a commune with 269 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Hérault in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, which is organized in the Communauté de communes Orb et Jaur. The inhabitants are referred to as Vieussanois. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Haut Languedoc.

Geography

The municipality is located in the countryside Montagne Noire, the already influenced by Mediterranean climate southernmost foothills of the Massif Central. The eponymous village is located on a southern slope in the valley of the Orb, in which the road route Departmental D14 of (Béziers ) Roquebrun to Mons (Hérault ) is also the main route the community. Their remaining area is uninhabited due to the topographically difficult terrain with the exception of individual hamlets and, apart from a street in the town Berlou, traffic- barely tapped.

Main industry is the wine. The growing area Vieussan belongs to Saint-Chinian appellation (AOC ).
