Vieux-Habitants

Vieux- Habitants is a municipality with 7617 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) on the Côte sous le vent, a coast on the Caribbean Sea, in the Basse- Terre. A valley is the Vallée de Grand -Rivière. Vieux- Habitants has a share of the National Park of Guadeloupe. The northern neighboring community is Bouillante. The settlement was founded in 1636 and was then called Habitants. Today prehistoric monuments, tourism and agriculture play an important role. Above all, coffee is grown.
