Bulgaria

Bulgaria also has a vignette system for the use of roads. The use of major roads and highways requires for in- & Aliens (all cars and trucks ) a vignette. For cars there are weekly, monthly and annual tickets, for the price (2013 ) of 5/13 /34 €. Weekly and monthly Stickers must be punched by the Distributor. In cities can be driven without vignette - the transition from one place to another is practically but almost impossible without vignette. The toll sections are each (usually) marked with signs. Vignettes can be purchased at border crossings and in the larger gas station chains.

2005 ADAC warned against the sale of counterfeit Bulgarian vignettes themselves by border officials.

Germany

In Germany there is no motorway vignette. There was, before the introduction of the Toll Collect system, the Euro - Vignette for trucks. This expired on 31 August 2003, and brought the state about 38 million euros a month. Introduced in 1995 Vignette cost 750-1550 € per year for heavy trucks without pollutant filter. The Motorway Toll Act for Heavy Goods Vehicles on 5 April 2002 included these regulations. Because of the current EU -directive way the vignette charges could not be increased. In addition to the road toll for trucks there are always also plans to introduce a vignette or a distance-based toll for cars.

Montenegro

From 15 July 2008 to 31 December 2011, the toll -like environmental annual fee Eko Naknada was raised on the borders of Montenegro for road vehicles. The annual ticket cost 10 euros for cars (2011) and was stuck as a vignette in the windshield.

Austria

For motorways and expressways in Austria usage fee must be paid since 1997. Prior to the driveway on a vignette subject road must have a motorway vignette, also referred to as a " highway Pickerl " are properly attached to the inside of the windshield.

With the introduction in 1997 there were initial difficulties in terms of delivery and quality of the vignettes. For example, did the glue does not, so that the vignettes triggered again. The vignette was the laughing stock in the population. Typical was the satire of Vignettenman in Ö3 Wecker.

Vignette types and prices

Are output to 3.5 tons vignettes for motorcycles and motor vehicles. Until the introduction of distance- based truck toll system in Austria in 2004, there were vignettes for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes. Vignettes are available as 10 -day, 2 -month or annual permit available.

The annual vignettes are valid from 1 December of the previous year to 31 January of the following year. The 2 -month vignette is punched from the sales office to a preferred day and is of this up to and including the numerically same day, two months later, so a maximum of 63 days. Three times " two months " is about 10% cheaper than "one year "; from 28 May to cover three 2- month vignettes time-to- month vignette for the following years without interruption. The 10-day vignette is punched with the first of exactly ten days of validity. (2012 )

In the first year of collection of tolls there instead of today's 10 - day vignette one weeks vignette, which was wrongly interpreted by many drivers as a 7- day vignette. The validity, however, was tied to the calendar week. However, as early as Thursday, valid for the next week vignette was sold, thus the validity (Thursday through Sunday of the following week ) ranged from a minimum of five days (Wednesday to Sunday) and a maximum of eleven days.

Switzerland

In Switzerland tolls on national roads are paid by means of a motorway vignette. It should be noted that cantonal highways i.d.R. are not highway toll. The vignette is directly bonded to the inside of the windshield ( without intermediate film that would make a vignette invalid) and is the validity period. During an inspection can thus be quickly determined whether the fee is paid or not.

The motorway vignette was approved by the Swiss people by a referendum of February 1984 and 1985 introduced compulsory. It originated in a time when the fuel (gasoline / diesel) in Switzerland was as in neighboring countries more expensive and should primarily serve that pure transit riders contribute to road maintenance. Alternatively stood tunnel tolls ( esp. Gotthard and San Bernardino ) for discussion. This would however esp. also hit the local industry. With a vignette all be equally loaded.

The design of the vignette was designed by graphic artist Roland Berner Hirt. The price was from 1985-1994 to 30.00 CHF per year. Since 1995, the vignette in Switzerland will cost 40.00 francs. The price in Euro depends on the exchange rate and amounted for 2010 € 27.50 ( € 29.00 from June 1, 2010, from October 1, 2010 € 31.50 ), the price of the vignette 2013 shall be from 1 December 2012 € 33.00. The validity period is 14 months from 1 December of each year to 31 January of the following year. Example: The Vignette 2013 applies from 1 December 2012 to 31 January 2014.
