Wooden observation tower before the collapse

The Viktor height is 581.5 m above sea level. NHN is the second highest peak of the ridge Ramberg, a granite mountain in the Harz in Saxony-Anhalt Harz district.

Geographical location

The Viktorshöhe is located in the Harz Nature Park / Saxony- Anhalt approximately 3 km east of the village Friedrich Brunn, a southern district of the town of Thale, and about 3.7 km north- west of Mägdesprung, a district of Harzgerode. At or near the elevation of the Hagentalbach spring in the Northeast, the Krebsbach in the south, the Friedenstalbach in the southwest and the Kältetalbach in the northwest.

On the northeast flank of the Viktorshöhe stands near the summit, a Communications Tower, on its southeast flank of the monument bears and on its southwestern flank lie the rock groups of the Great Devil's Mill and Little Devil's Mill. About 1.5 km south-west from the summit of Viktorshöhe that drops slowly in this direction, is located on the Friedenstalbach Bergrat -Müller - pond with the lot of them lying below Erichsburger pond. A little further south-west that is located above the river valley, the castle ruins Erich mountain. Approximately 2 km east of the summit spreads from the Bremer Teich. 1.8 km west-northwest rises in the nature reserve columns Moor with Wegener head ( 587.1 m), the highest elevation of the Rambergmassivs.

History

Before 1900, was built on the Viktorshöhe a private restaurant with views framework, which evolved into a popular tourist destination. The late 1970s was the building complex to an operating holiday home for the VEB wire and rope works Rothenburg. The restaurant beside it was popular hiking and tourist destination. The since the early 1990s, vacant buildings disintegrate gradually. The abandoned furnishings are in the area around distributed and offer a war -like image of destruction and neglect. Near the summit stood up to its collapse in November 2012 a wooden lookout tower.
