Vilho Pekkala

Vilho Ferdinand Pekkala ( born April 3, 1898 in Kotka, † October 20, 1974 in Kotka ) was a Finnish wrestler and bronze medalist at the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924.

At the games from 1924 Pekkala stepped up in class until 79kg freestyle wrestling. In the end he was behind Fritz Hagmann from Switzerland and Pierre Ollvier from Belgium in third place.

In Finland Vilho Pekkala only once Finnish champion, namely in 1928 in freestyle. In Greco-Roman style he had with ten times Finnish champion Oscar Friman and the experienced Onni Pellinen serious competitors in freestyle he had to repeatedly place behind his competitors Kyosti Luukko. Until 1928 Pekkala launched for Helsingin Kisa - Veikot ( HKV ), from 1929 Hallan Visa in Kotka, later he wrestled for the Helsingin Poliisi - Voimailijat (HPV).
