Villa-Maria (Montreal Metro)

Villa Maria is a metro station in Montreal. It is located in the district of Côte- des-Neiges -Notre- Dame-de- Grâce at the intersection of Boulevard and Avenue de Monkland Décarie. Building

Art

Architect André Léonard was also involved in the artistic design of the station. Large sheets of polymer cement and steel in the colors of autumn adorn the walls of the platforms. The disks have slots which are disposed so that they convey the impression of movement.

History

The opening of the station took place on 7 September 1981, together with the section between Place -Saint -Henri and Snowdon. It is named Villa Maria, a traditional Catholic girls' school, which was still mid-19th century residence of the Governor General. It is named after Ville- Marie, the original name of Montreal.
