Villa Mettlen

The villa Mettlenstrasse is a country estate in the municipality of Muri bei Bern Canton Bern.

The Mettlengut was first mentioned in 1650. The first landlord was Samuel Ougspurger and was married to Jacqueline de Graffenried. Around 1750, Johann Albrecht Steiger built the stately home with lots of money and art appreciation, and in addition to some other owners it has mainly Count Karl Friedrich von Pourtàles his mark. In the sixties of the 20th century, the municipality of Muri could - according to the request of the previous owner César Gustav Tauber - the Villa Mettlenstrasse purchase and remodel the encounter and cultural center. Since 1970 building is the seat of the Music School Muri- Gümligen. The ground floor and the vaulted cellar can also be rented for private events such as birthday parties, corporate events or weddings.
