Villa Pojana

The Villa Poiana ( sometimes spelled Villa Pojana ) in Poiana Maggiore in the province of Vicenza, Veneto was designed by Andrea Palladio about 1548/49 for Bonifacio Poiana. The characterizing feature of the villa is the Serliana with Doppelgesims and five round bull's eye which is modeled after the Nymphaeum in Genazzano by Donato Bramante, according to Ulmer.

In the interiors, frescoes, which were performed according to Palladio by "Master Indio Bernardino & Master Anselmo Canera, painters of Verona ". In the vault cross the loggia there are allegorical figures. In the Emperor's Hall on the Villensüdseite scenes from Roman history as well as a painted natural landscape can be seen. The paintings in the other rooms are a bit more modest. The loggia is moreover a marble bust of the owner.
